Some weddings are just unforgettable. Mady and Matt’s celebration in Edmonton wasn’t just a beautiful day—it was a love story brought to life.
When Mady first reached out for coordination, her name sounded familiar. It took a little while, but eventually we realized we’d both gone to Holy Trinity High School here in Edmonton, I was just a year ahead. That connection made our planning journey feel even more special—like we were meant to cross paths again for this.
The Weather Shift That Changed Everything
Their wedding took place at Snow Valley Ski Resort, transformed into a dreamy summer venue surrounded by trees and soft, rolling hills. I’d been watching the forecast closely all week. Even that morning, the skies looked uncertain. Then, just one hour before the ceremony, the clouds lifted and the sun broke through. It felt like a quiet blessing, setting the perfect tone for what was to come.
A Moment That Meant Everything
Moments before the first look, I helped Mady get into the venue before Matt saw her. She turned to me and said, “Shannie, you are such a comforting presence today.” I’ll never forget that. It was one of those small, sincere exchanges that stays with you. The kind that reminds me why I love being an Edmonton wedding planner.
A Law School Love Story
Their officiant shared the heart of their journey. Mady and Matt met during their first year of law school in Saskatoon. Their friendship turned to love during third year, in the middle of lockdowns, study marathons, and a campus that was mostly closed. After graduation, they faced the challenge of a long-distance relationship—Mady in Calgary and Matt in Saskatoon. But they made it work with determination and weekly drives, building a foundation that proved unshakable.
The Three-Things Tradition
One of the most touching parts of the ceremony was a tradition they’ve kept since early in their relationship. On birthdays and anniversaries, they each write three things they love about the other. During the ceremony, they shared them with all of us:
Mady loves:
Matt’s generosity and how he always puts his people first
His grounded, intelligent perspective on life
How he makes her feel safe, valued, and excited for the future
Matt loves:
Mady’s sense of humor and their endless inside jokes
How she’s always waiting for him with a smile after a hard day

A Ceremony Full of Personal Touches
There was thought in every detail. Mady’s dad built the wooden arch they stood under. Their nephews, dressed as “ring security,” charmed everyone. Mady’s lace gown was soft and romantic, and her bridal party wore pastels with parasols and lush, summery bouquets.
Golden Hour and a Dreamy Reception
As the sun dipped low, their golden hour portraits were everything. The reception glowed with floating candles and delicate florals. Later in the evening, Mady changed into a vintage-inspired corset gown that completely stole the show. Their cake-cutting moment was joyful, heartfelt, and full of love.

On September 27, 2024, Camille and Francis celebrated their love surrounded by the enchanting forest at The Valley Weddings in Westerose, Alberta. This stunning outdoor venue provided a romantic and natural backdrop for their special day, filled with emotional moments, unique touches, and joy shared with family and friends.
A Private Moment: Reading Vows Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony, Camille and Francis shared a private first look in a secluded area of the venue. This intimate moment allowed them to connect deeply as they read their vows to each other, away from the crowd. The expressions on their faces were a testament to their profound love and commitment, capturing a truly beautiful and private memory. The handwritten vows, carefully stored in leather-bound journals, were filled with promises that would define their journey together.

The sign was a beautiful mirrored piece, featuring a heartfelt message, "Welcome, we’re so glad you’re here!" The outdoor ceremony took place under a rustic wooden arbor draped with soft, flowing fabric. The natural surroundings, enhanced by delicate floral arrangements, created an enchanting setting where the couple exchanged vows. A particularly touching element of the reception was the memorial display, honoring loved ones who had passed. A white, rustic hutch, adorned with greenery and soft floral arrangements, showcased framed photos of those who were dearly missed. A candle burned in their memory, with a sign that read, "This candle burns in loving memory of those who are forever in our hearts, today & always." This display offered a heartfelt way to remember and honor those who couldn’t be there in person.

A Magical Evening
The reception hall, with its high, arched ceilings and warm lighting, provided the perfect setting for the evening’s festivities. The newlyweds made a grand entrance, hand in hand, greeted by the cheers and waving napkins of their guests. The spacious venue, filled with love and light, was a testament to the joy that filled the air.
One of the most romantic moments of the evening was the couple’s first dance. Under the soft glow of chandeliers and string lights, they shared a dance that seemed to transport them—and their guests—to a dreamy, fairy-tale world. The reflection of the twinkling lights in the mirrors behind them added depth and magic to the scene, making this moment truly unforgettable.
The head table was a sight to behold, beautifully adorned with greenery and soft lighting. The bride and groom, surrounded by their closest friends and family, shared laughter and meaningful conversations, all while enjoying the stunning atmosphere that had been created for them. The mirrored backdrop behind the table added an element of grandeur and elegance, reflecting the lights and decor in a way that made the room feel even more enchanting.
